“Demand Side Response incentive mechanisms are destined to play an important role in the low-carbon future, where electricity peaks increase because of higher levels of energy service demand met through electricity.
Demand Side Response (hereafter, DSR) consists of all those programs which enable shifting peak loads through diversified tariffs and financial incentives.
The traditional argument for the importance of DSR has been around the economic and environmental benefits of shifting peak loads. These include avoiding both high costs of extra generation and the negative environmental impacts that extra generation brings about particularly when originating from old, dirty, carbon intensive power plants…”
