The report provides input into the discussions at the 2014 World Water Week in Stockholm, which is held under the theme of Energy and Water. Through six chapters authored by leading thinkers in the field, it presents analysis and diverse perspectives on some of the key opportunities and challenges facing the energy and water communities.
The intention with the report is that it shall act as a take-off point for increased collaboration between professionals in the energy and water communities, building on some encouraging signs we are already witnessing. We hope that it will help inspire some future-minded thinking, uninhibited by sectoral boundaries and old truths.

2014 is shaping up to be the year of the energy-water nexus. First, the United Nation’s World Water Day centered on this topic. Then, the U.S. Department of Energy released a 250-page report on the energy-water nexus and indicated that it will be included in its Quadrennial Energy Review.
