Coping with recent global events have shaken even the most industrialized and technologically advanced economies. The implications for the energy industry has been a mixed bag. High oil and liquid fuel prices, heighted differential between US and European gas prices (owing in part to the shale gas phenomenon in the US and oil-linked prices in Europe), and sustained high LNG prices in the Far East (fallout of Japan’s earthquake) are critical factors. Reduced investments in exploration and production in traditional territories, redirected investments in relatively new regions, business acquisition especially in gas trading, are but some of the upheavals taking place…
