Natural gas prices have fallen dramatically in the last 2 months. On 8 November 2011, the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) Henry Hub futures price was $3.75 per million BTU (per MMBTU). The corresponding natural gas price for 17 January 2012 is $2.53 per MMBTU, a 33.5% fall in 2 months, with a 18 ¢ fall taking place during the course of the day. It is curious that there are no cries of outrage that speculators are manipulating the market, but it may also be worthwhile to consider what is happening in terms of market fundamentals…
